What
Is MKDOC?
Milton
Keynes Doctors On Call (MKDOC) is a non-profit making GP service set up
by the local GPs in and around Milton Keynes with one aim - to provide
an emergency primary care service that allows general practitioners and
their patients to feel confident that genuinely urgent medical care can
be safely provided when neither a patient’s own GP nor their partners
are available.
MKDOC is staffed almost exclusively by local, experienced GPs who know
the geography of Milton Keynes and
surrounding areas well.
Emergencies
There are certain symptoms that
are deemed to be too urgent for a doctor to deal with:
1. Heart Attack (MI) - presented as a tightness or discomfort across the
chest, usually associated with profuse sweating and/or severe breathlessness.
2. Trauma - accidents resulting in patients unable to get up or suspected
fractures requiring x-rays and treatment only available in a hospital.
3. Breathlessness - which is deemed as life-threatening.
4. Overdose of Tablets - especially if the patient is either
unconscious or vomiting.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT A DROP-IN CENTRE. PATIENTS WILL NOT BE DEALT
WITH UNLESS THEY HAVE CONTACTED THEIR OWN GP FIRST AND HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED
TO BE SEEN. |
